A social and charitable European association
AFILIATYS is a non-profit organization (NPI) under Belgian law, which counts more than
37.000 members of the Institutions staff, agencies and European offices, of the diplomatic
and consular corps of the Member States, of international organizations and of the
European Schools.
The object of AFILIATYS is to contribute to the well-being of its Members and to facilitate
their integration in the host country, by - amongst others - supporting social actions to the
benefit of its Members and charitable actions to the benefit of the underprivileged.
AFILIATYS is hosted in Brussels by the Commission, in Luxemburg by the European
Parliament. It is operated by a group of volunteers, active or retired from the European
public service, acting under the guardianship of a Board of Directors that is accountable to
its General Assembly.
AFILIATYS does not receive any subsidies from any European institution. Its budget
comes from a unique membership fee of 5 euros per member and from collaboration
fees received from commercial partners – 145 at this time – in exchange of our promotion
of special offers developed for our Members. All areas of activity are involved: insurances,
banking services, car purchase and car rental, leisure, health, travel, to name a few...
AFILIATYS is not drawn from the administration of the European Institutions, nor from a
Global Purchasing Office and even less a large commercial organization.
The funds of AFILIATYS are almost entirely dedicated to the organization of social
activities such as end of year festivities for the children of the personnel in order to
celebrate Saint Nicholas, and in support to charitable actions helping the underprivileged,
with a special care to the deprived or ill adults & children.
AFILIATYS supports medical research projects, actions undertaken by associations such
as Cancer Support Group, care centres for multiple sclerosis, blindness, cystic fibrosis or
Parkinson disease and associations fighting against poverty and social exclusion.
